YEAH a follower :)

I just logged in and saw I have my first follower, http://lapbandgalsjourney.blogspot.com/.  Who has a great blog and was full of information and insperation when I started this journey.

I havent weighed in the last few days, not feeling 100 % yet. Not so much my surgery spots. But my shoulder still seems to have pain and for some reason it seems to be getting worse. One of the women I work with had this done a week before me and she has no shoulder pain.  I know we are all different and heal at a different rate. I did call the DR so he ordered me some other medicine to relax the musles, which he said should help, hope so.

I think I need to take smaller doses or do away with the pain med the DR gave me, I went back to work and the last week I cant hardly keep my eyes open at work. But I know that any time a medicine says will make you drousy or sleepy, it will kick my butt. I cant even take OTC that is for sleep, takes me a couple days to know the effect. I am such a wimp with stuff like that LOL.

well off to see how my other roll models are doing with their journeys and see what good advice I can find

  2. Hi there and welcome!! When I had surgery I had MAJOR shoulder pain. It was bad enough that I seriously considered having the band taken out. For me it lasted three solid weeks at a really painful level and really nothing helped. Well, I do think stretching helped a little bit. The kind where you hold your left hand straight up over your head and then bend it backwards so your hand is reaching straight down towards your shoulder blade and then use your right hand to stretch it back by pushing the left elbow back. But really - the thing that helped the most was finding people on the web that reported having the same pain and being able to read from them all that it would eventually go away.

So I'm here to tell you - I had seriously god awful shoulder pain and it lasted WAY too long. Much longer than any other symptom I had - but... it did completely go away. I had it worse than anyone else I know and my doctor was not all that sympathetic - but I swear it's a normal side effect - it has to do with the referred pain from the diaphragm. So - just take it one day at a time and I promise it'll go away!! Hang in there!!

  3. I also had shoulder pain post surgery-- mine was 1/4/10, feel free to check back through my blog. The post op period is a limited time of discomfort and you will get through it.
Glad you're in bandland and welcome to a whole new world!

  4. Hello!

I didn't have shoulder pain with my lap band surgery, but I did have it something wicked with my gallbladder removal. I was told it was gas pain from the procedure. I do remember my back hurting after getting my band, and my surgeon said it was probably from being on the hard operating table. Who knows? It'll pass, and you'll be good as new before you know it!

  5. I had shoulder pain for weeks after surgery and still get it when I eat too much. I'm sure it is either referred pain from the band or sometimes the gas they put in for the lap can cause shoulder pain. Welcome to this band world.

  6. Hi! Lap Band Gal sent me over!
I am 2 months post op. I was banded on 3/16/11. The first week was bad for me. I hate to tell you this, but I cried almost every day and truly thought this was the worst thing I ever did to myself. However...by day 8...seriously I could see the light at the end of the tunnel. My shoulder pain and incision area pain only lasted that first week, you WILL get through this part.

Now I've lost 23 pounds and feel this is the BEST thing I ever did for myself. Hold on, you'll get through this part!

  8. Hi and welcome too! I'm only a little bit behind you! (got my band on 5-12-11) and it's interesting to see the difference between docs concerning food. I was banded through Kaiser and was told I could go straight to full liquids after surgery (cream of ___ soups, pudding etc) although I'm splitting the difference and doing a week of liquids then full. but It amazes me how different each doctor is. Best wishes to you!!
