one month

Well it has been 1 month as of yesterday that I had surgery.  As far as that I am feeling good, still have the other hanging on.

I started mushies but have to say that since I started them seems I am more hungrey. I do have a question, because I am having a problem with the protien drinks. I have bought a few different ones but they all seem so sweet. I dont know if I can keep this up for the rest of my life if I have to drink those forever.

Any ideas ?

  1. Well, first... happy one month! Second, it's normal to get a little hungrier as you get weeks away from surgery. Ask anyone around here -- sometimes it takes a few fills before you really get there. Finally, you most definitely do NOT have to drink protein drinks forever. The only time I drink them is when I'm in a hurry in the morning or when I've PB'd or had a fill so I need a day of liquids.

  2. I really quite like the Atkins dark chocolate shakes. They've got a bit of a bitter, dark chocolate thing going on that I really enjoy. I don't drink protein shakes all the time though - pretty much just after a fill. Congrats on a month banded!

  3. I am waiting for surgery on 6/30 and have been trying all kinds of samples of protein powders and RTD protein. The Oh Yeah RTD, the Chike powder, and some of the Syntax Nectar are pretty good. You should visit theworldaccordingtoeggface (the world according to egg face). She has a ton of recipes and ideas and her preferences on protein powders. Also, I think on "banded living" they did a "rate your favorite protein" kind of survey. good luck!

  4. Hi and congrats on reaching one month! It definately gets easier when you start having mushies. But yeah, the hunger returns cause your tummy is healing. No, you'll want to start getting the majority of your protein through food and all of it when you start solid food. You'll definately not be drinking prot shakes. I only drink them after a fill for a day.

  5. Grats on the one month! Something that helped me with the shakes was to use vanilla protein powder and make an orange julius. All I did was add 1/2 cup OJ, 8oz milk, and a little vanilla extract. Although, it was sweet.
